Top 10 annoying hotels guests

Hotels can be great places to relax, but some guests definitely make things a bit more difficult for staff and fellow visitors. I’ve had complaints in the past, but instead of being one of these complaining guests, I’ve just not gone back to that hotel again.

Here are the top 10 most annoying types of hotel guests:

1. The Noisy Neighbor

  • These guests love loud music, shouting, or slamming doors. They have little regard for other guests trying to sleep or relax. I’ve had experiences where my next door neighbor gets back to their room in the middle of the night and slams the door after entering the room. Inconsiderate.

2. The Over-demanding Customer

  • Always asking for more towels, extra pillows, or special requests that go beyond the usual service. They never seem satisfied, no matter what the staff provides.

3. The “Room Service Abuser”

  • Ordering massive amounts of food for delivery and then leaving a huge mess behind. Sometimes, they even fail to tip. I don’t like when people leave their dirty trays outside the door, where you have to practically step over the dirty dishes to get by.

4. The Party Animal

  • Host a party in their room or the hallway, even when the hotel has a strict quiet hours policy. They’re usually not the least bit concerned about noise or the comfort of others.

5. The “It’s Not Clean Enough” Complainer

  • No matter how clean the room is, they always find something to complain about. The pillow’s too lumpy, the showerhead’s not perfect, and so on.

6. The “I’m Always Right” Guest

  • These guests argue over the smallest details, believing they should be treated like royalty. Often, they demand upgrades, special treatment, or extra services as if it’s their entitlement. I did have a nasty hotel manager explaining something to me that I know was not correct. I hated to be right, but he was wrong!

7. The Last-Minute Booker

  • This guest waits until the last minute to book, then expects the best room in the hotel even though everything is fully booked or there’s a special event happening.

8. The Tardy Checkout

  • They constantly push past the check-out time, and when the hotel asks them to leave, they act surprised or annoyed. Sometimes they even linger in the lobby or hallways, dragging out the process.

9. The Room Raider

  • These guests raid the minibar, use all the toiletries, and then try to sneak away without paying for anything. Often, they’ll claim they didn’t use anything when the hotel staff comes to check.

10. The “I’m Special” Guest

  • This type expects special treatment simply because they think their presence alone is a big deal. They might ask for upgrades, free services, or preferential treatment just based on their “status.”
