10 years of ‘The Dress’

The Dress

It’s 10 years since we were introduced to “The Dress,” already! It was a 2015 online viral phenomenon based on a pictures of this dress.

The world disagreed on whether the dress was blue and black, or white and gold. The phenomenon revealed differences in human color perception and became the subject of scientific investigations into neuroscience and vision science.

The dress was on Facebook and then it’s image made it everyone on social media.

Apparently the dress was black and blue, but the lighting of the photos made it appear as white and gold to many, creating this ongoing, non-stop debate.

A new wave of pandemonium insures and the image was shared millions of times. Millions!

Roman Originals, who sold the dress, reported a surge in sales and produced a one-off version in white and gold sold for charity.

It all started when a mother of a bride sent the image to her daughter to get her opinion in Chester, England. The mother told the daughter it was blue and black, when the daughter saw the photo, she claimed it was white and gold. And hilarity and the story of 2015 ensured.

What colors do you see? Think if it in your head, you don’t need to announce it here. But you can share this post with friends and see what they think.
